About the winery
Anton Uhnák Winery is a family winery with a twelve generation tradition. Its vineyards surround the village of Tchaikovsk, where they process their crops. 8.5 hectares of their vineyards are spread in the Sádovie, Podhorie, Vinná Dolina and Deberča hunts. They produce more than 40,000 liters of wine a year and harvest the whole crop by hand. In making wine, they try to give the wines their natural character by using only the natural yeasts found in the grapes. Wine is processed and produced using modern technology, but they like to experiment with the fermentation process. The unique character and minerality of the wines from Anton Uhnák is provided by the tuff and andesite subsoil originating from the volcanic eruptions of the Štiavnica Hills. We call the TEKOV terrain part of Slovakia, which stretches in the south of the Štiavnica Mountains. The vineyards that grew here in the Ipeľ Hills have an excellent base in tuff and andesite eruptions from the Sitno volcano, originally the Štiavnica stratovolcano. The river Hron washes this part from the west side, from the north and east it is the already mentioned Štiavnica hills. In the south you can feel the warm climate that blows here from the Danube plain.
