A Wine Journey through the Little Carpathians
90 minutes
Description
Experience an exclusive tasting filled with exquisite wines from the Little Carpathian region – a historical gem of Slovak winemaking. This tasting event celebrates the rich tradition of classic grape varieties while also showcasing the innovative spirit of modern Slovak viticulture.
What Awaits You?
Inside the historic Old Town Hall in the heart of Pezinok, a carefully curated selection of local wines awaits, blending tradition with modern winemaking artistry. You'll taste time-honored varieties like Riesling, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, and Frankovka modrá (Blaufränkisch), which thrive exceptionally well in the region's unique terroir with its limestone and loess soils. These will be complemented by Müller-Thurgau, offering a fresh, balanced taste with citrus and floral notes, reflecting the traditional winemaking heritage of the Little Carpathians.
Slovak Varietals
You'll also discover new Slovak grape varieties that are putting the country on the map in the modern wine world. Devín will enchant you with its aromatic profile and subtle spice, while Dunaj – a bold red wine with deep fruity, chocolate, and earthy notes – offers a glimpse into the future of Slovak winemaking.
Food, Wine, and History
During the tasting, a sommelier will guide you through each wine, delving into the history of the Little Carpathians, the unique characteristics of the local terroir, and the modern techniques winemakers use to craft contemporary varieties.
The tasting includes 7 wine samples from local winemakers. The experience is enhanced by a tasting platter (cheese, cold cuts, grapes, bread), along with sparkling water and still water for refreshment.
Let yourself be carried away by the exceptional flavors of the Little Carpathians!
